Malaysia-Vietnam IT forum held in HCM City

A Malaysia-Vietnam information technology (IT) forum opened in Ho Chi Minh City on May 24.

At the event, 37 Vietnamese businesses and 27 Malaysian IT enterprises met, exchanged and introduced the potential and advantages of the two markets, as well as cooperation opportunities in such fields as e-government, e-commerce, telecommunications, database and banking and finance.

Nguyen Minh Hong, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications (MIC), said the ministry is deploying many programmes to support e-government in Vietnam.

The Vietnamese government has issued many policies to attract foreign investment and at the same time exploit markets in Malaysia, across Asia and around the world, he noted.

The forum opens many cooperation opportunities for the two countries to seek markets and promote exchange. Malaysian businesses pledged to help their Vietnamese counterparts expand operations in the IT field in Malaysia and the Middle East.

By February 2012, Malaysia had invested $8 million in Vietnam’s IT field.
