Conference on "Training, research and development on ICT human resources for the period 2013 - 2015"

On 19th December, 2012, the Ministry of Information and Communication (MIC) in collaboration with the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City organized a conference on "Training, research and development on ICT human resources for the period 2013 - 2015" at Quang Trung Software Ciy.

The conference had 02 sessions. Session 1 was “ICT human resources development policy and solution” with moderator Mr. Tran Duc Lai, Deputy Minister of MIC. After the presentations of the speakers as well as the opinions of enterprises, schools on the ICT human resources development, Mr. Lai concluded that “Conference content is better than others before. The quality and seriousness of reports is increased and there are many new ideas, solutions. I suggest Department of Information Technology has mechanisms and policies to develop human resources and promote communication for the importance of the IT industry, as well as the future of human resources in the IT industry in order to attract more and more students to study IT. In addition, enterprises should try to plan human resource needs so that the State has the basis of input-oriented for schools and strengthen cooperation with schools in training, accepting trainees, etc.”

In the afternoon, session 2 was “Enterprises join in ICT human resources training” with moderator Mr. Le Manh Ha, Vice Chairman of People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City. The presentations in this session were mainly presented by IT business leaders. In particular, they focused on requirements and skills of ICT human resources as well as provided new models of training collaboration which help businesses and schools save training time and provide better orientations for students of the IT industry.

Concluding the session, Mr. Le Manh Ha said Ho Chi Minh City Computer Association (HCA) and the Department of Information and Communication (DIC) would be the bridge between school and business with the first solution to have a list of IT training schools for the training needs of business. “On the direction of the city in developing ICT human resources for hardware industry, HCMC has chip development program – core of hardware industry and for software industry HCMC has decided to build Quang Trung Software City 2 and Quang Trung Software City chain in the provinces.”

The conference including session 1 and 2 attracted over 400 attendees. With good content, the conference got a lot of valuable ideas from Ministries, Departments, enterprises and training units. Through conference, problems which the State and enterprises currently concerned were discussed and there were many new ideas, solutions to orient the development of ICT human resources in the future.
